The meaning of data
All our everyday life is full of data. Not a single day passes without the use of data by literally all members of society. What, however, is data in the narrow sense and how do we use it that often? We can answer that question is by looking at a basic definition of what we can describe as data per se and by realizing which branches use the data we process every day.
Definition of Data
First of all, let us have a look at what data are in general. If we speak of data in a broader sense, we usually associate it with computers and machines. They need data so that they can work properly. That principle can also draw a parallel to our brains, which work similarly as machines and computers do. They also need data, or information in other words, so that they can prepare an answer reaction to it. In psychology, people often use the term "stimulus" for that. We use exactly that principle for our communication every day.
Our everyday life with Data
After we have discussed what we can associate with the term data, we can now go in with all the branches in our daily life that use all these different kinds of information. As we have mentioned before, you can base all of our communication systems on the processing of information, be it work, school, university or your free-time. That makes presenting information a crucial tool to design our life in almost every aspect you can imagine. All those issues lead us to another question: how can we successfully communicate our thoughts with the help of accurate information so that our partner understands us exactly the way we want it?
Texts as the Basic Principle of Global Communication
To communicate effectively, you often cannot just tell your partner what you want. In the world of work, you not seldom find yourself in a situation where you need to convince your colleagues, boss or potential customers of your point of view. Argumentation helps you in this case. The more logical and followable your argumentation is, the better is your chance to convince your opposite. To achieve this, you need to build up a structure that introduces your topic in general, some selected examples which prove your point and a clear message at the end of your formulation. When you see the situation where you need a solid argumentation from a realistic perspective, you quickly realize that we often do not have the possibility to talk to people face to face. The expression globalization should ring some bells here. Our global economy has enabled us to do business with people from all over the world. That, of course, comes not only with the multiple advantages such as global wealth and high quality of goods but also with communication problems. These are not only based on different cultures or habits but also on the problem that you often cannot communicate with them face-to-face or with the help of a telephone due to various time zones. As a result, your only option in many situations is that you write down your point and the arguments linked to it, thus leaving you with the need to produce a text.
Written Texts can sometimes be problematic
So texts are an important way of communication with others. What sounds useful in theory, might also prove difficult in practice. What illuminates this thesis further is the fact that writing a text takes much more time than just saying the things you want to point out. Therefore, you lose a lot of time when you write down your thoughts. Fortunately, there is a solution to that. The people at Trint have developed software that transcribes audio to text. That way, you can just say what you want to point out to your partners, and the program will type it for you. So you can save a lot of time when there is the need to write something down. Although the program is still very young and will apparently get multiple numbers of workovers in the future, it is very successful and reliable even today. Another advantage about it is the fact that it is so easy to operate. You just need to insert your speech file into the program, and it starts working immediately, giving you your writing much faster as you can do it yourself. Why shouldn't you make use of such an opportunity which saves you that much time to do so many other productive things?
